Marci Alboher’s Summary

I'm a lawyer-turned-independent journalist/author who writes and speaks about emerging workplace trends. I'm the author of One Person/Multiple Careers, which was published by Warner Books in February 2007.

I like to shake things up a lot. These days I dedicate most of my time to Civic Ventures, a nonprofit think tank leading the call to action to engage millions of baby boomers as a vital workforce committed to solving the world's biggest problems.

I also write the Yahoo! blog, "Working the New Economy" and serve as an advisor to The Op-Ed Project, an initiative that seeks to expand public debate by enlarging the pool of women experts who are accessing (and accessible to) the top media outlets and online forums.

Previously, I was a frequent contributor to The New York Times, where I created the Shifting Careers column and blog. My writing has also appeared in Travel and Leisure, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Time Out New York, Legal Affairs, More Magazine, and scores of other publications.

I've been cited as a career expert in countless media outlets including: The Today Show, CNBC, MSNBC, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Boston Globe, NPR, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Kansas City Star.
