Marcelly Suhali’s Summary

I work for Walton International Group, a Canadian Asset Management Firm, with over 30 yrs of establishment years and a group AUM of CAD $8.8 bn. It has Global Operations and we manage both retail, private and institutional clients.

For over 30 years, Walton has helped all of our clients to diversify their portfolios into something that has little to no relation with the speculative markets, called Pre-Development Land Investing Opportunities.

This asset class, albeit a bit slow and illiquid, it is also a non-volatile, non leveraged, hard asset - backed product which has never lost a single cent when held to maturity. Even during downturns like now.

Walton's Land Banking Audited track record is a whopping average ROI of 28.98% p.a. (* As audited by PWC in 2009)

Although we still belong to a rather untapped market for now. I believe, through strategic awareness and education, more and more individuals and institutions will benefit from diversifying into a niche asset class like PDLI.

Besides consultancy, marketing and business planning activities, I headhunt, interview, coach and groom future Walton managers.

  • Business Development Engineer

    ST Engineering (Synthesis)

    (Defense & Space industry)

    20052006 (1 year )

Spearheading a fresh new business area for the company was challenging and fun. Both involving engineering services in ports and oil and gas sector, I enjoyed going down to sites, extracting and absorbing information from the very ground men, learning something new everyday, as well as negotiating big deals with their management.

The most valuable lesson? It's never "what" you know, but "who" you know.

Marcelly Suhali’s Education

  • University of Oxford

    B.Sc / M.Sc , Engineering Science & Econs , 19992001

Being one of the very few Indonesian students (4 of us) at Oxford University, I had to resort to joining OUMC which the Oxford University Malaysian Club.
No regrets though. Fun times were had, friendship was made and many of the friends I met there are very much treasured until today.

Oxford has taught me the most valuable skill in life:

Which is the skill to LEARN, with utmost efficiency.

As Steve Jobs aptly put it :"Stay hungry! Stay foolish!"...

    Activities and Societies:
OUBS and OUMC Member, OU Engineering Club,
Jazz Club Member and lead singer,
Coreographer and Dancer for OUMC musicals,
Wardrobe girl for OUMSSA plays, Party-goer,
    - Balls, Bops, ParkEnd & DTM enthusiast.
  • National University of Singapore

    B.Eng , Mechanical Engineering

Even if the rather stiffling, a tad spoon-feeding education system did not particularly blow me away, the student bodies in NUS totally did. They were vibrant, they were zealous, they were very very successful.

Especially in the performing arts area. Rag n Flag Day is a must-visit for those who don't know.

I have learnt much more of life lessons outside classes.

The friendships forged and the life-teaching experiences had in NUS also took me to higher heights.

    Activities and Societies:
NUS SH Dance Team, Lead & co-composer in Stellar Musicals and mini concerts, NUS SH Rag Team (2002&3), Chief Set & Fashion Designer for Stellar Musical, Lead and co-song writer for Sheares Band (Finalist of JamX 2004), NUS Engineering Publication, NUS Dance Blast
