ICT Innovation Engineer
Turin Area, Italy
A strong curiosity and a very wide set of interests (varying from quantic-physics to psychology and to astrology) have been leading me to continuosly try to increase both my technical and my social knowledge, and to find relations between them.
Having an INTP (Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving) personality type, I love to use my knowledge and my understanding in order to solve any kind of problems (both technical and non-technical ones).
A Diploma in Computer Science, a Laurea degree (MEng equivalent) in Electronic Engineering and a further Master in Telecommunications, give me a technical knowledge that covers all aspects of the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) field. In the last years I have also attended Management, Economics and Business Development training courses.
Currently, I am looking for a new job in the ICT field that could offer me a combination of dynamic activities and frequent travels, management responsibilities and positive interactions with other people. I am also evaluating different entrepreneurship opportunities, in order to make up an ICT company by my own based on one of my personal interests (mainly related to mobile business and innovation, wearable technologies, context awareness).
My technical and social background help me being a natural technical leader, having job/teams organization capabilities and a strong focus on targets reaching. I like public speaking and every kind of situation involving contacts with other people.
My technical skills are mainly related to software design in C/C++, Java, web design in PHP and ASP, hardware design in VHDL, system integration, analysis and evaluation of new technologies and technical solutions.

January 2006 — Present (4 years )
Management of a small project aimed to the analysis and evaluation of xDSL Dynamic Spectrum Management (DSM) techniques, and management of a joint activity on DSM L3 with the Polytechnic of Turin.

November 2008 — May 2009 (7 months)
Business Club TurinIN is non-profit Association whose members live, work, or make business in the Turin Area (http://www.turinin.com).
After having co-founded this Association, having in mind a powerful cooperative tool to make people meet and their business grow, and to promote a good vision of entrepreneurship in the society, on May 5th 2009 I decided to resign as Vice President and Advisor due to fact that the President, and most of the other members of the Board, were leading the Association in a direction that I consider very different from its original one and, after several tentatives to recover the right direction, I had to accept that I had no power to avoid that.

January 2005 — December 2005 (1 year )
Management of a project aimed to the implementation of device drivers, firmware and software in C language for a custom evaluation board controlled by an ARM926EJ-S processor running VxWORKS operating system. The custom evaluation board was intended to be a reference board for an Access Node in a GPON architecture, providing switching and traffic shaping capabilities, and had xDSL and POTS access at the customers side.
(Privately Held; 10,001 or more employees; Telecommunications industry)
May 2004 — December 2004 (8 months)
Architecture analisys, evaluation and prototyping of innovative hardware solutions for very-high data-rate access networks. The prototype was intended to be a reference board for an Access Node in a GPON architecture, providing switching and traffic shaping capabilities, and had xDSL and POTS access at the customers side. All choices (both hardware and COTS) were made in order to maximize the efficiency and reliabilty, and to minimize costs and powering.

February 2004 — December 2004 (11 months)
Prototyping of hardware security solutions for mobile terminals, and analysis of their integration with the mobile operating systems (Linux, Symbian, ...).
My role was either to implement VHDL blocks of the security solution, and to perform a deep analisys of the IP packets handling inside mobile operating system, in order to understand how to hook and process them inside the custom security hardware. I also worked on the definition of the hardware placement inside the mobile terminals (for example, on an SDIO peripheral).
(Privately Held; 10,001 or more employees; Telecommunications industry)
March 2003 — January 2004 (11 months)
Analisys, evaluation and prototyping of innovative architectures (processors, peripherals and operating systems) for new generation mobile terminals.
This activity included the use of RFID technology in order to implement a software prototype on a PDA (having an RFID reader) providing localization services and local-sensitive information (e.g. tourism, buses time-tables).
(Privately Held; 501-1000 employees; Telecommunications industry)
June 2002 — March 2003 (10 months)
Co-operation in a european IST project aimed to the definition of a new optical access network architecture. My responsibility was to evaluate and propose the best Forward Error Correction (FEC) code for the specific application.
(Privately Held; 1001-5000 employees; Telecommunications industry)
October 2001 — May 2002 (8 months)
Development of a software platform in C/C++ and SystemC, in order to provide an ADSL modem reference design for hardware/software development and test. My responsibility was to handle the customer technical requirements and coordinate the software developers team in order to satify them. I was also responsibile for the architecture design of the software platform implementing the ADSL modem.
(Privately Held; 1001-5000 employees; Telecommunications industry)
May 2001 — October 2001 (6 months)
Development of a system simulation platform, coded in C/C++, implementing a test environment for an ITU-T G.709 compliant framer. This was a consultant activity for a foreing customer and my responsibility was to handle the customer requirements, define the platform architecture and coordinate the software developers team.
(Public Company; 1001-5000 employees; Telecommunications industry)
November 2000 — April 2001 (6 months)
Development of an fully configurable hardware Intellectual Property in VHDL, implementing Reed-Solomon coding and decoding (see www.idosoc.com).
(Public Company; 501-1000 employees; Telecommunications industry)
August 2000 — November 2000 (4 months)
Main activity was to realize "C language" bit-accurate models of existing VHDL Intellectual Properties in order to allow potential customers to evaluate them in a software system simulation.
(Public Company; 501-1000 employees; Telecommunications industry)
October 1999 — July 2000 (10 months)
My thesis project for Laurea degree was aimed to analyse the differences between VHDL design language (used to describe hardware) and SystemC, in order to move all VHDL Intellectual Properties portfolio to the new design language. As a consequence, I realized a C++ program capable of reading a complete VHDL project and automatically translate it in SystemC. This activity also led to two Industrial Patent requests.
