Marc Alt is president of Marc Alt + Partners, a design, research and brand strategy agency dedicated to sustainable innovation. Marc Alt speaks frequently to a wide variety of audiences and companies about green design, sustainability and creating value by aligning corporate strategy with environmental and social benefit.
Marc Alt + Partners provides consulting services, strategy and insight to clients from a diverse range of industry verticals. Recent engagements include BMW/MINI USA, Bloomberg LP, Ogilvy, Butler Shine (BSSP), Liz Claiborne, Lippincott, Consumer Electronics Association of America (CEA), The Green Electronics Council, Neenah Paper and others.
Marc regularly speaks at a variety of international conferences and industry summits focused on innovation. He has lectured at the American Marketing Association, Yale, NYU, AIGA, the PSFK Trends Conference, SINOCES and many other venues on the convergence of green design, marketing and business. He is often asked to provide POV and context on green issues for journalists and is quoted frequently in media.
As an advocate of business transformation, Marc develops environmental conferences, including Greener Gadgets, a conference exploring the challenges, possibilities and trends in the greening of the $170 billion consumer electronics industry.
Marc is active in initiatives that are helping design and product innovation teams share knowledge and accelerate understanding of sustainable design principles. Marc serves on the advisory board of The Designers Accord and was founding co-chair of the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design. Marc previously served on the board of the NY Chapter of AIGA, The Professional Association for Design.

On February 1st, 2008 in New York City industry leaders, entrepreneurs, journalists, and product designers gathered to discuss the business case for the greening of the consumer electronics industry to a sold-out audience of over 400 people. Presenting sponsors included BusinessWeek, HP, Nokia and CEA.
The topics of discussion included: design for sustainability, product life cycle, enhanced producer responsibility, take-back and recycling programs, energy, materials, product lifespan and upgradeability, consumer attitudes and demographics, and lifestyle marketing.
Presenters included representatives from HP, Nokia, M.I.T., EPEAT, the Green Electronics Council, IDEO, Engadget, Earth2Tech/GigaOm and many others.

As a board member of the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) NY Chapter, Marc developed the concept for and chaired the first conference dedicated to the intersection of design, sustainability and business in New York City. The conference featured presentations by senior executives from Wal-Mart, Johnson & Johnson, Osram Sylvania, IDEO, Russell Design, Cook+Fox Architects, Material ConneXion, Flag, ValueNewsNetwork.com, UN Global Compact and many other leaders of industry.
Marc currently serves as chairman of the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design, an initiative and task force of the AIGA National organization.
