Motivated, Biomedical Research Scientist specialized in Cancer Research with a PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Three years of post-PhD professional experience with proven capability of independent and original research. Have several publications in high impact scientific journals and encyclopedias. Talent for generating research ideas, and quickly mastering research related technology. Diplomatic and tactful with professionals and nonprofessionals at all levels. Extensive experience in oral and poster presentations including several invited talks in the United States and abroad. Accustomed to multi task. Demonstrated history of timely completion of research projects and grant proposals. Extensive mentoring experience. Flexible and versatile -- able to perform with ease and to maintain a sense of humor under pressure. Poised and competent with ability to transcend cultural differences. Thrive in deadline-driven environments. Competent in team-building skills.
Extensive experience and in-depth understanding in the mechanisms of action of anti-cancer drugs and anti-neurodegenerative agents. I am specialized in screening and development of microtubule-targeted anti-cancer and anti-neurodegenerative drugs.
My focus areas include developing drugs that target and specifically eliminate cancer cells while leaving the normal cells intact. My research group is making good progress in this area with the use of humanized monoclonal antibodies and development of immunoconjugatable drug molecules. In addition, we are working on methods for stabilizing microtubules in nerve cells affacted by neurodegenerative diseases.
Mechanism and regulation of microtubule dynamics in neurodegenartion and cancer, molecular mechanism of cell division and cell death, mitotic checkpoints.

The work sheds light on the molecular, biochemical, and cellular mechanisms of action of two potential anticancer agents, sanguinarine and dolastatin 15.
The effectivenes of these natural products in inhbiting cancer cell proliferation is reported in international journals, and more manucripts are in preparation.
