Masters thesis was work on project “combinFormation”. It is a creative web visualization tool that learns from the user's surfing. Instead of waiting for the user to navigate by clicking hyperlinks, the program proactively crawls the web, retrieves websites catering to user's interests. It then breaks down the retrieved web documents into chunks of text and images and chooses the most relevant information based on the user's browsing history and presents them in the form of a streaming collage. Concepts in Information Retrieval like tf/idf, relevance feedback, feature extraction and clustering are applied in the system to rank and classify the documents.
Focus of Masters thesis was semantics of traversing the timeline of the generative information space. Developed data structures and algorithms for browsing the history of the information space with the help of an interactive timeline. More details at http://ecologylab.cs.tamu.edu/people/madhur.html
