Stephen Price’s Summary
I am a Silverlight/.Net software developer and designer. I have experience as a User Interface Developer, using WPF and C#. I'm really loving the latest technologies, the possibilities that they are opening up is really exciting.
I have over 5 years experience in software development and over 14 years experience in the IT Industry. I began my IT career in network and server infrastructure, transitioning to a programming career having been programming as a hobby for many years. I recently completed my degree at Edith Cowan University. (Bachelor of Science - Internet Computing with units in Mobile computing and Game development).
I am familiar with XAML, Silverlight, WPF, Visual C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, XML, the .NET Framework, C++ and SQL. I am currently contracting on a Silverlight project, and am mentoring on another Silverlight project. In the past have worked for companies such as Bank West, Unisys West, Fujitsu, UWA, ASG, CSC and also served in the Royal Australian Navy (Electronic Technical Weapon Systems).
I have an interest in cartooning and caricaturing, and recently completed a strip of cartoons for Microsoft as a promotion for Remix2008. I self publish my cartoons to my web site www.littlevoices.com and also have a blog at www.lythixdesigns.com where I post my developer experiences.
I'm a regular member of a number of user groups believing that community is very important. I have taken on starting a Silverlight user group in Perth, under the SDDN (www.sddn.org.au) banner. I am a member of the Perth .Net user group, Australian Computer Society and also the Australian Cartoonist Association.
In May 2007 I presented to the Perth .Net user group on WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation).
I have written and delivered several Silverlight workshops, one to a Perth based company, and another to Central TAFE.
Feedback was positive and I am open to the possibility of running the course again for other interested parties.
