As a N.C. State Bar Certified Paralegal, I specialize in workers’ compensation, serious injury and wrongful death cases. I've also provided litigation support on medical malpractice and employment cases, including class action wage and hour claims and a class action sexual harassment case.
I co-authored with attorney J. Griffin Morgan a national workers' compensation book, Workers' Compensation Practice for Paralegals (Carolina Academic Press, 2008), which has been adopted by a number of paralegal programs nationwide.
A passionate advocate of the paralegal profession and social media, I promote paralegal education, career development and community at my blog, Practical Paralegalism. My posts have been re-printed in paralegal and law-related publications across the country. I also co-host with Vicki Voisin the only monthly podcast for paralegals, The Paralegal Voice at Legal Talk Network,

A former adjunct paralegal instructor at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, NC, I have lectured at North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ), North Carolina Bar Association Paralegal Division, North Carolina Paralegal Association, National Federation of Paralegal Associations and Institute for Paralegal Education (IPE) paralegal and attorney continuing legal education seminars; authored seminar manuscripts and articles for paralegal publications, including Paralegal Today; served on executive committees for NCAJ & NCBA Paralegal Division; and volunteered as a Site Coordinator for NCAJ’s Wade Edwards High School Mock Trial Regional competition in Winston-Salem, NC for many years.
Reviewing, investigating and evaluating complex injury and workers' compensation cases; reviewing and summarizing medical records including identifying evidentiary and causation issues; drafting and editing legal documents, articles and manuscripts; and preparing cases for settlement, mediation and hearings, including calculating damages, valuing claims and preparing demand packages.
