I build and apply dynamic system simulation models to explore, describe, and improve business, social, and natural systems.

Because these are "Complex Dynamic Systems" they often generate surprising and unpredictable behaviors that are difficult to manage or direct. Traditional static analytic techniques are ineffective in uncovering the underlying drivers of their behavior.

I use Agent-Based Modeling and System Dynamics techniques to map out the causal structures that lead to this complex pattern of events. The resulting system simulations support understanding and effective action in the face of uncertain and complex system behaviors.

Lyle Wallis’s Specialties:

I am an expert user of Anylogic, Vensim, Repast, Powersim, and IThink simulation modeling tools. I use mathematical optimization techniques in conjunction with dynamic simulations. I am skilled in the integration of Java with these simulation and modeling tools. I use Mathematica for general mathematical and statistical computing. I am conversant with web technologies such as XML, HTML, building web pages and sites, etc.
