Duncan Isaksen-Loxton’s Summary

Developing a taste for computers at an early age (apparently one of my first spoken words!) I gained a taste for multimedia development at school, and went on to gain an A-Level in Computing backed up by Electronics and Physics.

I was in the first year to complete Multimedia Computing - one of the first courses of its kind in the world at a university level - a degree in all facets of the internet. From low level protocols such as http, smtp, imap and gsm in mobile networks, programming languages for the internet to databases and web design, animation and human computer interfaces, the course gave me an in depth of knowledge not found from a lot of other computing degrees.

Now proficient in a range of technologies and languages I can advise on the suitability of solutions for the job at hand and tailor that solution for the best results.

Currently learning about new and developing rich media platforms such as Macromedia's Flex, and the Javascript and Web Services technique known as AJAX, I am looking to expand my knowledge and push the boundaries of applications delivered over the internet.

  • Senior Developer

    Debtdomain GLMS Pty Ltd

    (Banking industry)

    February 2007January 2009 (2 years)

  • Development Team Lead

    Red5

(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Information Technology and Services industry)

    February 2007February 2008 (1 year 1 month)

I am currently responsible for making sure projects are run on time and to budget using my team of ColdFusion developers. My job also involves looking at new and emerging technologies and if necessary moving them into the development process. I spend time each week looking at code reviews and holding development meetings to help grow the team. My aim is to have everyone participate in our future, and in doing so we all help each other learn and grow.

My time is split about 60% to coding, and the remainder between hardware related activities, capacity planning, client meetings, specifications, wireframing and other personnel based work.

My day revolves around making sure we produce the highest quality product in the least amount of time, as such I spend time looking at development and coding practices and finding ways of streamlining our days, making life that bit more productive and easier.
