After a successful career as a newspaper journalist, I am an independent writer and editor. My specialities include business articles on real estate, retail, health services and the economy, personality profiles, feature articles, business plans, press releases and book projects. I have written a number of articles for Atlanta Intown, an Atlanta monthly newspaper, and KnowAtlanta, a newcomers' guide. I also wrote a business plan for Dahlia Street Productions' major motion picture, "Buddy Holly on Gandymede." Writing coaching/consulting is another area of expertise. A detail-oriented editor with excellent online skills, I can handle a variety of projects.
Before starting my independent business, I was an editor/sportswriter/reporter and critic for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. I've also worked at the Columbus, Ga., Enquirer and the Baton Rouge, La. Morning Advocate. I was editor of Louisiana Parish Government Magazine and a writer/editor for the Louisiana Tourist Development Commission.

I was a contract editor for Whitman Publishing, editing their College Vault series of books on college football. The Vaults are attractive coffee table books focusing on separate schools, their traditions, history, great players, etc., and are loaded with memorabilia and historic photos. My two books so far are Rutgers and Oregon. I've done a bunch of fact-checking, editing, writing captions, press releases, securing forewords and afterwords from coaches and former players. It's great experience in the world of publishing.

In the late '60s and early '70s, the waves of cultural change at last swept over LSU. My college days were a great period of discovery. I began a lifelong love of poetry, studying John Keats in a class in which I was the only student. Sadly, I've forgotten the name of the elegant British woman who taught me the class - once a week I climbed the stairs at O.K. Allen Hall to discuss Keats' poems with her. I also began working at the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate while at school, launching my journalism career. Frequent trips to New Orleans fed my love of urban adventure/exploration. Many heroes were discovered there.
