Lou Hughes’s Summary

In 1999 Co-Founded SimpleDevices, a company that pioneered local area network digital media distribution to a wide variety of consumer electronics devices, including; automotive, home theatre, hand held and PC’s.

As President and CEO of the company led it to profitability through licensing its patented, award winning software and hardware products to over fifteen OEM customers. In October of 2004, SimpleDevices was purchased by Universal Electronics Inc. (UEIC) for approximately $15 Million. Lou has remained on as the companies President and General Manager.

In 1996, Lou co-founded Supplybase, a company that provided enterprise wide, web-based supply chain management systems and information to enable global business equipment and telecommunications manufacturers to strategically source and manage suppliers of custom electro-mechanical parts and contract services. I2 Technologies purchased Supplybase in March of 2000 for $420 Million Dollars.

Lou's previous experience includes 10 years with the General Electric Company. Two years of intensive corporate in-house training and on the job experience led to his graduation from the General Electric Manufacturing Operations Management Program in 1988. Lou then moved on to GEs' Plastics division where he held various engineering, manufacturing and sales management positions. His final three years were spent as GE Plastics' Global Business Equipment and Consumer Electronics Industry Manager. In this position Lou handled the business issues, product development direction, and management of a team of business and product development specialists who were responsible for GE’s major accounts worldwide, like Motorola, Apple, Compaq, HP and Pioneer. Lou developed a unique perspective on the needs and market demands within the OEM marketplace during this time.

Lou received a BSME from Union College in 1986, and an Executive MBA from U.C. Irvine in 1993.
