• Completed at least 4 computer configurations a day along with other required tasks.
• Remotely installed software for users
• Worked with MDT2010 to improve deployment process
• Implemented new way of creating and maintaining image capture points for MDT using virtual machines (VirtualBox), the recommended method for creating MDT captures. This greatly improved efficiency and reduced errors in the imaging process, specifically with drivers. I learned all of this in about 3 months from starting with zero knowledge of the MDT backend prior to starting.
• Customized MDT Wizard to automatically name PCs when provided with site code. Compressed wizard from 7 pages to a single custom built page that collects all required information.
• Added a second page to the MDT Wizard that lists out scripted software installs. This allows a tech to have software automatically install as part of the MDT imaging process lowering the amount of post image configuration needed by the technician setting up the new computer.
• Configured PXE booting for staging lab eliminating dependence on boot sticks that required updating and often lead to boot sticks having older versions of the boot image for MDT. Provided a central location to update one boot image eliminating this issue.
• Created and modified PowerShell scripts
• Created a PowerShell script that instantly provided a list of software old computers and transferred mapped drives and network printers (old computer to new computer) from a GUI on the technician’s computer. Initial draft was written in the first 2 weeks of my employment from the ground up. This includes SQL queries against the LANDesk database used for inventory management.
• Helped decide on new GPO's to put in place for the Windows 7 migration, including automation based GPO's with security in mind
• Managed up to 3 techs onsite during major PC replacement project.
