I started V2EX as an experimentation on SNS and technologies in 2006, the site is growing fast and gaining more attentions from media and young people. It's powered by an open source software codenamed Project Babel I wrote. You can get more details on the project site hosted by Google Code:

V2EX was blocked by GFW(the national deployed censorship system in China) in Sep 2007 for unknown reason, so you'll need to use proxy to reach the site if you're living in mainland China.
And, it comes to an end on February 20, 2008.
