I am an energetic Web professional with a solid foundation of effective writing and editing skills. I am fascinated by the constant changes in the online world, but I'm careful to always keep my focus on how new solutions could benefit my organization's core mission. I'm constantly figuring out how to adapt new technologies to that mission, learning the new skills to make it happen and working with others to develop a model to support the effort itself.

I oversee two B2B Web sites, TireBusiness.com and RubberNews.com, managing daily content, improving usability and discovering new features that will add value for readers and advertisers. Last summer I created an online video newscast that went weekly in January. I plan, shoot, anchor and edit the newscast, and it's been a huge challenge and a lot of fun at the same time. My current projects are to gain more technical Web knowledge and to find effective ways to use social media for my publications. I recently started tweeting about the video newscast (@TBNewsMinute) and am working on building a following.

August 2005 — April 2007 (1 year 9 months)
In 2006 I established a new design of TireBusiness.com with a focus on improved usability and appearance. That was the first major redesign of the site since its launch in the mid-90s. Another significant project I had in this position was organizing the vast statistics and rankings Tire Business publishes throughout the year. Probably most important I set up a workflow for all of them to continue to be updated as they're published.

As a reporter I covered a wide variety of topics in the tire industry, including tire makers' relations to their network of independent dealerships, earnings results and analysis, features on small business owners, breaking news concerning core readers and new product introductions. I also assisted with the layout of the print publication.

July 2001 — November 2002 (1 year 5 months)
At the Times Herald, I covered local businesses from small tourist shops to large automotive industry manufacturers. I mostly focused on the health of the local economy, efforts to attract large manufacturers and programs to revitalize small business clusters. I also helped develop a new print design for the home and garden supplement.
