Customer Account Manager (CAM) -- Tubes at Tata Steel
Delhi Area, India
Soft to Hard, Virtual to Real, Slow-paced to High-paced, Usual to Unusual, Routine to New, Regular to Challenging -- that in brief encapsulates my professional experience so far.
Having spent close to 2 years in Software Industry, learning about the same, living the 'dream' to become a software engineer and coming out with bug-free products, with ample perks and 'cool' life, I decided to CHANGE the course of my life.
I pursued my MBA from IIFT Delhi and decided to work in an industry, far removed from the Software industry. And here I am. Working in one of the finest Manufacturing organisations of the world -- Tata Steel, in Marketing & Sales. And boy oh boy, am I loving it! The constant change, unusual challenging situations, business scenarios, is making for a rich experience so far.
My current role includes taking care of the Precision Tubes business in North India, with Automobile OEMs as my major clients. In the role of a Customer Account Manager, I'm the bread-earner for Tata Steel, playing my part in improving the bottomline.
Goals:
My current goals are to immerse myself fully in the business I am in, learning the nitty-gritties of the same, clearing all my business fundamentals so as to achieve the long-term goal to drive the business independently for my company, in one of the major geographies.

"I believe the only dream worth having is to dream that you will live while you're alive and die only when you're dead." -- Arundhati Roy
That's exactly what I did in those 2 years. I had some of the best experiences of my life, both on a personal as well as professional front.
Apart from facing the biggest tragedy one can face in life & coming out of it rock solid to learning a new language to attending parties, to having eventful night-outs, to enjoying the awesome food at the world-famous Tanku ka dhaba, to having tankfuls of chai and truckloads of parathas at Rana Saab's dhaba, to singing songs & enjoying late nights at the Coffee Day Xpress, to that wonderful hostel life, to making some life-long friendships, to endless other things -- I had it all.
And oh yeah, learnt a thing or two about 'management' too!
I did some interesting sales & marketing projects with Hindustan Unilever (Lakme), Perfetti van Melle, Virgin Mobile and Sally Hansen.
Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) , Electrical Engineering , 2001 — 2005
Besides my involvement in a lot of extra-curricular activities, I also passed out with flying colours, clearing my degree with Honours.
I also organized lot of other events including the TechFest, for various clubs and technical societies e.g. ISTE, IEEE, etc.
My batchmates say that on a personal front, I changed 360 degrees over the course of 4 years, for good.
Class-X , English, Science, Maths , 1998 — 1999
I still cherish the time I spent in this school (Nursery to Class-X). Apart from playing a major role in making me what I am today, on a personal as well as professional front, this school also had some wonderful teachers, whom I still uphold in my heart.
I passed out Class-X with flying colours, standing 1st in school and 3rd in the Chandigarh region, which became one of the most significant milestones of my life.
