Social Entrepreneur, Internet Mentor, Speaker, Writer, Diva, Blogger & Founder of The Hysterectomy Association
Dorchester, United Kingdom
I'm a social entrepreneur committed to enabling businesses to grow sustainably into the future through the appropriate use of the Internet tecnologies. I'm into empowerment in a big way, in other words, I never do it for people, instead I transfer my knowledge, skills and expertise into the companies and businesses I work with so that they can do it for themselves instead.
I'm a qualified adult education teacher that specialises in computer training and am also registered with the UK Register of Learning Providers as a trainer. I specialise in the following areas:
- Social Networking, Marketing, Commerce and Bookmarking
- Business Blogging
- Wordpress and Wordpress websites
- Internet Marketing and e-Commerce
- Email Marketing
- Print on Demand and Online Publishing
As a maven, I'm constantly looking for what's coming next and where the advantages to both my businesses and my clients may be. The key to this is continuous professional development which I undertake by reading, talking, researching and listening to others.
I’m also the Founder and Director of The Hysterectomy Association - an organisation with a global reach that has only ever existed online since 1996, and which currently attracts up to 200,000 users every month and which is where I test out many of my ideas and theories about how the strange world of the t'interweb works.
My aim with the Hysterectomy Association is to give women enough information, at the right time and in the right format for them to make informed choices about their health.
I love writing and am the author of five books:
- LinkedIn Made Easy (NEW)
- How to Build a Brilliant Business with the Internet
- 101 Handy Hints for a Happy Hysterectomy
- The Pocket Guide to Hysterectomy
- Losing the Woman Within
I'm in the process of writing my first novel too! A Diva's Guide to Menopause - do YOU think it will be a best seller?

BusinessXchange is a learning and support network (rather than a lead generating network) that operates in Dorset in the UK. Three sessions in various locations every month each with a business presentation mean that many businesses can get together over breakfast to discuss the issues they have, the problems they face as well as their successes.
The role of coordinator is to facilitate the group discussions that take place during the 'wicked issues' sessions, ensuring that everyone on their tables gets the opportunity to have their particular issue considered by the group and then receive feedback, suggestions and ideas about how to take things forward.

Grow A Better Business is an Internet Consultancy that empowers clients to use the WHOLE power of the Internet for themselves. I specialise in Internet Marketing and Social Networking and work mainly with the free and low cost tools that I have been using myself with The Hysterectomy Association for the last 13 years.
I provide education, training, development and mentoring to clients to learn the skills and develop the experience and expertise for themselves - thus ensuring they can take their business forward without having to rely on third party companies unless they want to.

The Hysterectomy Association provides information to women who are facing, or who have had a hysterectomy. It also provides support through forums on the website, counselling and telephone services. We publish books and information, provide information to the media, accesses case studies from members for media and research companies. We have an active e-commerce element, which is currently what provides all the funding we receive and I believe it is a great example of how you can leverage the (whole) power of the Internet to build a really great community.
