Linda Carroli’s Summary
Linda Carroli is is a consultant and researcher with Harbinger Consultants, working with JM John Armstrong. Harbinger Consultants applies enterprising, innovative and interdisciplinary thinking as well as awareness of ecological, social, design and technological ideas to shape creative futures and cultures for communities, organisations and cities.
Linda has completed studies in media, cultural studies and heritage and is currently undertaking postgraduate studies in urban planning and design. She has also undertaken a series of Design Futures seminars and, in June 2008, attended the UK Commission for Architecture and Built Environment’s Urban Design Summer School. While in the UK, she undertook a private study tour focused on placemaking, urban design and the creative sector to gain a better understanding of development industry, social services and cultural sector collaboration and partnerships including the impact of new technologies, creative/social enterprise and social innovation.
She has served on several Boards including chairing the Board of ANAT, a national art, science and technology organisation, for three years, having served on the Board for four. She was formerly the editor of an international art, science and technology electronic magazine, fineArt forum, and edited The Ideas Book (UQP, 2005). With an extensive national and international publishing record and as an award winning writer, she regularly publishes in a range of media.
Linda was a member of the state government’s State Government Community Forum for the Greater Brisbane Region for several years. She has served as an Industry Expert in new media for Arts Queensland and peer assessor for the Australia Council's InterArts Board.
She is also the recipient of a Centenary Medal for ‘long and distinguished service in the arts’ and was included in the 2008 edition of Who’s Who In Queensland.

RDA is a partnership between the Australian, state, territory and local governments, the private sector and local communities to strengthen regional communities and build their long-term economic, social and environmental sustainability. This is the first time all three levels of government are working together to develop Queensland’s regions. As the first point of contact across all levels of government, RDAs will promote regional initiatives and partnerships ensuring they respond to local needs. RDA committees will be prime players in building relationships and links between governments and local communities. They offer the opportunity for local communities to have a genuine voice at regional, state and national levels.

In this residency, based at the Institute of Modern Art in Brisbane, I collaborated with Perth based writer, Josephine Wilson to work on the *Water always write in *Plural project. This project explored 'hypertext' as an emerging electronic literature trope. The resulting work, 'a woman is standing on a street corner waiting for a stranger' won several awards and honorary mentions in various new media and electronic writing awards. It also became required or recommended reading in a number of university writing programs.
