Energetic and passionate writer, cook and researcher, with a keen interest in Mexican cuisine and Mexican culture. Eight years of professional journalism experience means I'm skilled at turning out polished, concise copy on deadline and connecting with people on a wide variety of subjects.

Currently using those strengths to become one of Mexico City's few English-speaking Mexican food authorities. In July 2010, I co-founded a private culinary tourism business called Eat Mexico that offers street food, taco and market tours for tourists in Mexico City and Puebla.

As a culinary guide with extensive knowledge of Mexican food, I've been quoted in articles by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Agence France-Presse and McClatchy Newspapers. In July 2011, Travel+Leisure magazine featured me as a "Top Global Culinary Guide." My personal Mexican food and travel blog, The Mija Chronicles, has also been recognized by Saveur Magazine and NBC Latino.

I'm currently writing a cookbook on Mexico City street and market food to be published in 2015 by Kyle Books.

Currently the sole owner and operator of Eat Mexico, a culinary tourism company I co-founded that focuses on private tours of Mexico City's tacos, markets and street food. Eat Mexico, in addition to being highly ranked on TripAdvisor, has been featured in Travel + Leisure magazine, The Sydney Morning Herald and other publications.

My duties include managing a staff of four part-time workers, developing new tours and routes, maintaining a website and social media presence, and ensuring that clients receive excellent customer service.
