After majoring in Math and Computer Science at SUNY StonyBrook, I started work at Chyron, working with C# on broadcast graphics software. At Chyron, I was introduced to best practices in software development, as well as the domain knowledge surrounding broadcast operations.
Two years later I moved to Oxygen Media. I worked on Oxygen's revenue reporting software, introducing me to the financial side of a cable network. I also worked with C# 3.0 and WPF on Ript, Oxygens consumer facing software.
Oxygen's software development team worked in an Agile fashion, and I was a natural fit for the environment. Scrum, TDD, and especially pair-programming were all attractive ways to work, and I have become very comfortable with all of them.
Since January of 2008 I have been doing full time Ruby on Rails development at Weplay, where we also follow both Agile and XP practices.
