Director of Research & Marketing, LDS Tourism Services Ltd.
Chester, United Kingdom
I am the Director of Research & Marketing for LDS Tourism Services Ltd, a highly-respected brochure marketing company in North West Britain. For most of my working life I have also been a freelance columnist, critic, editor and content provider.
I was born and bred in Llandudno - a popular seaside resort in North Wales - and became involved in the tourism and leisure industry from the ground up. For several years I worked as a conservationist and countryside ranger. I also travelled around Europe, the Middle East and many other parts of the world (including Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands), but always enjoyed discovering the nooks and crannies of the British Isles.
I live on a small-holding in North East Wales.

In addition to my work with LDSTS, I am also a columnist, critic, editor and content provider. My work has appeared in a variety of magazines, newspapers and ezines ranging from "Country-Side" and "Entomologist's Gazette" to "Record Collector" and "Women's Independent Press".
Published Books include: "The Great Orme, Llandudno's Mountain" & "Butterflies of the Great Orme".

October 2001 — February 2008 (6 years 5 months)
When About.com axed its Cultures' network in September 2001, I became English Culture, Poetry and finally Freelance Writing Correspondent/Editor for All Info-About - an online community created by ex About.com Guides - until its sad demise in early 2008.
(Public Company; 51-200 employees; NYT; Internet industry)
July 1997 — September 2001 (4 years 3 months)
I had great fun as the English Culture Guide for About.com (originally the Mining Company), quickly building up a lively and loyal band of readers from all corners of the globe. I remained in this position until the company axed its entire Cultures' Network in 2001.
(Non-Profit; Civic & Social Organization industry)
March 1990 — October 1993 (3 years 8 months)
I was a ranger (based at the Visitor Centre) in the Great Orme Country Park & Nature Reserve, leading guided walks, conducting weekly butterfly transects and carrying out a variety of practical and scientific tasks.
(Non-Profit Organization Management industry)
1982 — 1991 (9 years )
In addition to my regular employment, I carried out voluntary work for various conservation groups and charitable bodies whenever possible. Most memorably, I spent several weeks at the RSPB Reserve in Arne, Dorset, where I lived in a log cabin in the 'depths' of the woods and carried out tasks ranging from chopping wood and beach combing to dealing with the public and recording information on various species.
I also spent several enjoyable months reconstructing Roman and Saxon pottery in Chester's Grosvenor Museum and had fun helping out with an archaeological dig at Bersham Iron Works in Wrexham.
(Environmental Services industry)
February 1983 — November 1985 (2 years 10 months)
My work for Colwyn Environmental Improvement Scheme varied from general pen pushing to tree planting. I also organised teams to clear rivers, build dry stone walls and plant flowers.
Animal Science 1987 — 1990
I spent my placement at the Environmental Centre on the Isle of Skye, monitoring seal colonies and helping care for sick and injured seal pups.
