    APMAS, started in 2001, is a not-for-profit state level technical organisation for promoting self-help and SHGs. Prakash functioned as Chief Operating Officer of APMAS with the overall responsibility for ensuring good Governance, Management, Financial and Internal Control Systems. He also led the Organisational and Risk Assessment (credit rating) initiatives. Other responsibilities included Donor Reporting and representing the organization at various forums. During 2001-02, Prakash provided Advisory Services in setting-up of APMAS, including designing the Governance structure, drafting the organizational articles of association and initial organisational systems and policies.

    Developed Risk Assessment (credit rating) methodologies – GRADES, to rate SHG Federations (and SHGs) and CoopRATE, to rate Thrift Cooperatives and RapidRATE, for a rapid rating of SHG Federations. Team Leader for the rating team in conduct of more than 200 risk assessments (credit ratings).

    CDF is an advocacy organisation for creating an environment which enables cooperatives to flourish. The land mark parallel cooperative Act – the AP MACS Act, 1995 was enacted due to its efforts. It also had a strong field based program to substantiate its advocacy efforts. Worked in various capacities (joined as Development Officer in 1990 and last office held was that of Senior Manager.) Performed the responsibilities of a COO since 1994. Was responsible for overall management of CDF and responsible for the software part in the micro finance program (40,000 women and 20,000 men) and agriculture farmers’ cooperatives. Was responsible for promoting best practices in the 100+ thrift cooperatives promoted by CDF, in addition to systems setting and product development. Played a key role in promoting the thrift cooperatives as member-based, viable, sustainable and replicable organisations. Lead the research and training initiatives for propagating the thrift cooperative methodology.
