(Educational Institution; 1001-5000 employees; Higher Education industry)
January 2002 — Present (7 years 11 months)
• Conducted research in software robustness and multiagent systems:
Developed and implemented AI-based strategies to achieve robustness in software through teams of cooperating agents. Designed mechanisms for development of agents representing Web services. The agents served as proactive proxies for the underlying passive Web services.
• Conducted research in ontologies:
Studied mechanisms for construction of consensus ontologies for Web service applications and Web service Integration.
• Conducted research in Web services discovery and selection:
Proposed and developed a behavioral approach to selection of Web services with the purpose of providing more precise results.
• Publication and presentation of research results in books, conferences, and workshops.

January 2007 — December 2007 (1 year )
ARDA project “Combining Facts and Expert Opinion in Analytical Models via Logical and Probabilistic Reasoning”
Developed Web services and Web services eventing applications for situation recognition from massive data by assembling fragments of Bayesian networks.
USDA project “Pathogen Info System: Agent-Based Infrastructure and Bayesian Analysis”
Developed software for analysis of text documents, automatic extraction of causal relations from text, and automatic creation of Bayesian network fragments from the extracted causal relations.

2004 — 2005 (1 year )
Collaborated in DARPA “Virtual Soldier Project”
Assessed and developed knowledge-based middleware, APIs, asynchronous Web services, ontologies, and UML documentation, to connect individually developed applications and components from different parties and of a great variety (e.g. visualization/simulation, modeling, diagnosis, prediction, statistics, geometry, anatomy, and physiology) for development of a medical care system for diagnosis of soldier’s battlefield injuries.
Designed the architecture for a exposing part of the JSim simulation package functionality as a Web service for ORNL simulations. Developed and tested the JSim Web service on the open-source Apache Axis Web Service Engine.
