The Laura And Wagner Foundation is a Curaçao-based non-profit organization which acts as an advocate for disabled people and disadvantaged persons of all ages in Curaçao and the other islands the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba.
In it's first year The Foundation worked to raise awareness about the needs of disabled people and the role that service animals can play in helping those with sensory and mobility disabilities. This was achieved through media interviews and public service ads as well as through an outdoor billboard campaign and presentations at schools and businesses.
The Foundation also maintains a petition effort to lobby for legislation that will allow persons with guide dogs to go anywhere non-disabled people go and protect them against discrimination.
The next phase of the Foundation's work will be to create new learning, mobility and employment opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages through the use of new software and digital devices.
