I started doing woodwork as a child in my dad's shop at home. When my father died and I inherited his tools, I needed someway to justify keeping all these tools in the house. This was the start of my first business called Crafty Hands. This was in northern California.
Upon moving to Colorado, the business was recreated as Laughing Coyote Woodworks. My earliest products were fireplace bellows and clocks.
My primary goals are to make practical, affordable wooden items that people will enjoy and that they can't find in the Big Box stores. I also want to make a living doing something I like to do.
I'm a generalist. I've done just about everything working with wood that you can do, from framing to fine detail carving.

I'm responsible for designing and building everything on our website. Nothing is contracted out; there are no sub-assemblies that I buy. Everything on the website starts out as rough-sawn wood from the lumber mill, and is worked on my one person (me) all the way through.
