1991 — 1992 (1 year )
Tax and Healthcare Attorney in Houston office of Johnson & Gibbs. After graduating law school I became the first tax lawyer in the firm's Houston office. My clients ranged from public companies to small joint ventures. The firm had a large healthcare practice and much of my work was supporting the transactional side of the practice. Ultimately, I transitioned into the healthcare group and expanded my practice to include both transactional and administrative client representation.

1982 — 1990 (8 years )
Senior Tax Manager in Houston office. Despite what happened later with Enron, I could not have chosen a better place to start my career in tax. AA had an incredible tax department, both lawyers and CPAs, and I had the opportunity to work with many of them on everything from cutting-edge corporate tax issues to sophisticated estate planning to tax controversy work.

September 1980 — August 1981 (1 year )
Experience included audits and compliance reviews of public and private companies, due diligence for acquisitions, and governmental audits. Working in one of the smaller offices as an auditor at the "most prestigious" accounting firm was a great experience. I had the opportunity to "run" jobs during my first year and was exposed to a incredible variety of work including an IPO and an acquisition audit of a publicly-traded computer manufacturer (yes, there were computers in 1981 - they were just HUGE!).
