Kurt DeWitt’s Summary

I've been in advanted technologies all my adult career. I've built out businesses that focus on enterprise class, highly available, computer systems and networks. Built, architected and trained teams to run service oriented businesses.

Built out a telemarketing group using advanced web2.0 mashup services to rapidly scale sales resulting in as much as 600% growth in markets that had reverse growth.

Very focused on achieving the ultimate software as a service based companies using web2.0 mashup services and voip.

My current project is focused on building out a practice around completely virtualizing the remote office / branch office for very large enterprises and campus wide deployments. We are continuing to invest heavily in state of the art technologies that lead the way into desktop virtualisation with full HD quality video and audio capabilities. According to Gartner, this market is targeted at $65B by 2013. We have the best solution today for this market. My goal is to help bring this product to market rapidly.

Kurt DeWitt’s Experience

  • Managing Consultant, Virtualization Practice Manager

    Attevo, Inc.

    (Privately Held; Management Consulting industry)

    August 2009Present (4 months)

I currently head up the focus at Attevo on our Virtualization practice. One of the areas I'm keenly focused on is how to provide a high return on investment on desktop virtualization.

VMware have been virtualizing datacenter server environments successfully for over 9 years now. Most of these successes are driven strictly due to their high (>85%) return on investment while reducing TCO below level's we've not previously seen.

The next challenge the world faces is moving outside of the datacenter to virtualize the desktop for both enterprise and consumer. Until now, this migration has remained elusive due to the high costs associated with virtualizing the desktop experience using these "old" server based virtualisation theologies. Thanks to a little known social network of open source engineers and artisans, this window has now dropped dramatically down to under 1 year for full ROI, providing full performance and scalability we've only previously dreamed about.

That is what I focus on. At Attevo, we now have a business practice that provides breakthrough business models for remote office workers that provides native application performance including full HD quality video and audio with a full return on investment within 1 year for very large organizations.

We are also continuing to broaden this reach to MSP and consumers as well. All of this is provided again, through the use of open source technologies, a whole lot of very creative people, as well as some very creative use of open techologies by the world's largest technology underdog.

    Red Condor

(Privately Held; Computer & Network Security industry)

    December 2007Present (2 years )

Red Condor is an awesome startup company with 3.5 yrs selling into the anti-spam space.

Red Condor has a unique solution for anti-spam and security. The product is a completely managed solution to the problem of spam in your Inbox.

Complete managed means you can get either 100% hosted email w/ NO spam or an appliance for your enterprise (from 5 - 100,000).

The solution is built upon a hardened core of Unix and is managed remotely for disaster recovery of email in the case of an attack - either harvest or denial of service.

The company founders are well known in the security industry and seasoned executives drive the company today.

I've known the CEO, Ron Longo, for over 20 years as we both went to the same college together. Fun times ahead!

Kurt DeWitt’s Interests:

Family, Leadership and Technology; Leadership is a gift. You've either got it or you will constantly have to work hard at changing who you are to gain it. Either way, you will have to continue to strive to work on it but the first is better. I love technology. Always have, always will. My father was an electronics technician in the military and dabbled in all things electronic. I remember when my dad built our first color TV. He hand built the whole thing - electronics to the wood finished cabinet (a heathkit no less - many of you won't even know what that was...and that makes me smile :-) My current fascination is with instant-on video, video mashups and for that matter all things Web2.0. I love working on personalizing solutions which provide measured growth. I'm always looking for tools that help teams of people communicate better. I've been mentored by some of the finest business and technology minds around. To them, I'm very grateful.
