General Manager at NHN and Founder/Leader of KLDP
Korea
In summary, I have been linux & open source all-round player: developer, system engineer, evangelist, project manager, i18n translator, ...etc. I strongly believe in the value of open collaboration and open innovation through open standard and open source.
I am the founder and leader of KLDP, Korea's biggest and oldest open source community for users and developers which I started at 1996 as a small personal homepage. I'm still maintaining it. It has 70000+ members and 700+ open source projects with 8 servers on dedicated rack as of 2007.
I was in charge of corporate-wide linux and open source collaboration and strategy at Samsung. My job also included consulting open source usage to engineers: developed open source guidelines, educated engineers that guidelines, let Samsung join FSF patron, hosted various seminars including Richard Stallman and Andrew Morton, let Samsung divisions establish open source compliance process...etc.
I have broad experiences on international/domestic collaboration: representative of Samsung at CE Linux Forum, an industry association whose members include Sony, Intel, IBM, HP, Nokia...etc and representative of Korea at Asia Open Source Symposium, hosted several events for open source with KIPA, the government agency for information and software, advised the ministry of information and communication about open source.
In my free time, I have been contributing to various open source projects including phpbb(Korean translation manager), gforge(Korean translation manager, various bugfixes / patches), drupal(Korean translation / various bugfixes), debian-sf(Volunteer webmaster, Korean translation manager and various bugfixes / patches), ntop(Patch for adding more network protocol support), korweblog(Various bugfixes / patches), jsboard(Various bugfixes / patches)...etc.
I have spoken at several conferences, published two books on linux and apache, wrote articles and had interviews with media often.
