As head of the wetlands department at Hal Owen & Associate, Inc., my primary duties include identifying and delineating wetlands and streams that are regulated under the Clean Water Act, conducting intermittent/perennial stream determinations, preparing applications for CWA 401/404 permits and river buffer variances, and designing and implementing compensatory wetland mitigation plans.
My professional duties also include septic system design. I have many years of experience in onsite wastewater and am excited to learn about new treatment technologies. The trend towards building large houses on small lots has increased the demand for complex and creative septic designs. I routinely provide pressure-manifold and low-pressure pipe distribution system designs, and I am increasingly asked to provide drip dispersal and pretreatment system designs. As a support service, I also perform hydraulic conductivity testing and analysis.
In addition I am in charge of computer maintenance and support at the office. I recently designed and launched our company website and a quarterly newsletter.
