For five years I wrote about all sorts of things in the context of crochet. I wrote about creativity, craft, feminism, empowerment, experimentation, risk-taking, prejudice. I maxed out on crochet, though. Now that I'm on the other side of that adventure, I still want to write. I want to write about anything at all that interests me, and I'm interested in a great many things. I don't even know all the things I'm interested in yet.
From 2006-2008 I was the editor of Interweave Crochet; I took the magazine from being a semi-annual special-interest publication to quarterly periodical.
In February of 2004 I launched CrochetMe.com, for which I have served as editor, publisher, and creative director. In December 2008 I sold the website to Interweave, and I remain involved in high-level consulting and as a blogger.
I've written or co-authored six books: Teach Yourself VISUALLY Crocheting, coauthored with Cecily Keim (Wiley, 2006), Get Hooked: Simple Steps to Crochet Cool Stuff (www.get-hooked.net) (Watson-Guptill, 2006), Crochet Visual Quick Tips, coauthored with Cecily Keim (Wiley, 2007), Get Hooked Again (Watson-Guptill, 2007), Crochet Me: Designs to Fuel the Crochet Revolution (Interweave Press, 2007), and Crocheted Gifts (Interweave Press, 2009).
I was a co-host of Knitting Daily TV, and have appeared on the DIY Network's Uncommon Threads and on the public television shows Knit and Crochet Today and Needle Arts Studio. I completed media training at the Lisa Ekus Group. I think the web is the future of how-to television; ask me why.
I occasionally design crocheted dolls, some of which are featured in books and magazines.
I'm a professional member of the Crochet Guild of America and The National NeedleArts Association, for which I served as co-chair of the Yarn Group website committee from 2007-2009.
