In 2004, Katie was drawn to focus exclusively on painting, and vowing to paint every day in her Kalama Washington studio has enriched and ignited Katie’s nearly unquenchable passion for process, progress, creation and discovery. Her paintings sell regularly through local galleries, private sales, monthly shows and quarterly events.
Honored as the 2006 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year by the Women Entrepreneur Organization of Washington, Katie's clients and collectors include Vancouver & Portland-based design & advertising firms, children's magazines, public schools, non-profit organizations, & a variety of private families and small businesses.
When not painting, you can find Katie enjoying time with her husband and two small children, as well as walking, reading, watching movies, and learning about art, business, parenting, cooking, health, yoga and more.
Katie can be contacted at Katie@kmberggren.com or 360.261.0874.
Painting intimate moments of motherhood with acrylic on canvas.

May 1994 — Present (15 years 7 months)
My current work stylizes intimate daily moments of life - grabs hold of the tactile and visible affection between mother and child.
The new paintings evoke light and texture - playing with how two or more confident figures can fold, bond and tuck together within a whimsical atmosphere of energy and sparkle.
Each painting is crafted with umbers and white over a vivid under-painting. Pure and simple color allows for introspection as well as the finessing of figures and lines. Using a simple combination of dry brushing and layering techniques, color is infused, allowing warm shadows, thick highlights and energetic motion to be woven loosely together.
An unquenchable passion for process, creation and discovery requires that I paint daily in my Kalama, WA studio, consulting my sketchpad and ipod for inspiration and motivation.
