(Research industry)
1980 — 1980 (less than a year)
Researched my family tree to find that our Sullivan family came to Saratoga Springs, NY from Irish Counties Cork and Kerry in 1846 during the famine. The effort is a good representation of my research abilities with real life usefulness that has helped bring together several generations. The research incorporated written online documentation, on site investigation of family documents and letters, and oral history.
The only initial clues I started with were that I was related to Ed Sullivan of TV fame and his uncle, my grandfather Colonel Daniel P. Sullivan, was the Assistant NY State Attorney from 1929-1937. One of my goals is to find the contributions my grandfather made during the depression and if they led to any subsequent protections developed in the securities market. There is current evidence through the work of current NY State Attorney Cuomo and former NY State Attorney Spitzer, that this office is a key organization in molding the securities environment with protections through regulations, investigations and prosecutions.
