Increasing exposure via the Internet, continuing to submit articles for publication, finish work on book manuscripts and perfect innovative equipment designs. Still available short term ( 1 - 3 months) for the delivery a private yachts on major ocean passages.

Generated significant PR in collaboration with Baltimore journalists in 2001-3 as a vocal community activist working to secure Historic protective status to rescue the ethnic minority, business district of Oldtown Mall from demolition. Created “Gay Street’s Oldtown Coalition” to petition the Baltimore City Council by proposing a “Global Village” regeneration project.

Humanitarian Medical Volunteer seconded to Cut Nyak Dhien Meulaboh Hospital, Aceh Province, Indonesian via NGOs “WALHI” and “SHEEP” after the Asian Boxing Day Tsunami. Worked as a Surgical First Assist, meeting NIFA clinical requirements under the supervision of local Doctors. Helped to acquire EMS equipment and train local Hospital staff in EMS practices functioning as an independent, Maverick aid worker and innovative community liaison, promoting the support of local Indonesian organizations attempting to access the resources of better financed foreign NGOs. Wrote the proposal: “Capacity Development of Emergency Preparedness Planning for Meulaboh,” a comprehensive emergency preparedness strategy for Meulaboh, Aceh Berat as requested by top functionaries at UNDP and WHO. Launched NGZer0 a new Blog promoting innovative solutions for practical collaborative delivery of disaster relief, to reduce waste of donated Humanitarian Aid funding on nonessential amenities, admin and bureaucracy.

Emergency Medical Technician in Surgical ER at Jackson Memorial Medical Center, Miami; 2nd busiest County ER (A&E) in the US. Duties and on-the-job training for patient care included: vitals, CPR, blood draws/ABGs, IV, Foley and NG tube insertion. ACLS certified for Trauma Resuscitation Dept. Only EMT on duty for busy weekend nights at Jackson’s stand-alone Ryder Trauma Center serving Miami Dade, the Florida Keys, Bahamas, Guantanamo and the entire Caribbean. Developed a comprehensive redraw of the Surgical ER, with the objective of creating an efficient “traffic flow” in order to greatly reduce the average waiting times for patients seeking treatment, as a direct response to Managerial requests for workable ideas. Spent final year in training as a Surgical Tech. at Lindsey Hopkins. One of the founding members of the South Florida Disaster Medical Assistance Team a Miami based D-MAT team. Attended field training exercise with the group in preparedness for deployment in a disaster.

Over 150,000 miles of ocean passage-making experience delivering private yachts professionally worldwide, including traversing the North and South Atlantic 13 times under sail. Taught novice boat Owners celestial navigation and seamanship as Co-Captain on major ocean crossings, also completed numerous trips double-handed. Formulated “Team Pro-Maxi,” an international all-female crew, for the 93/94 Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race. Trained as a Yacht Rigger and also acquired National Registry certification as an EMT in preparation. This project was abandoned due to Hurricane Andrew when the devastation offered a unique opportunity for a first experience in providing Disaster Relief as a Medical Volunteer assisting 82nd Airborn Medics. Joined the first “US Women’s Challenge” for the Whitbread in 1989. Completed the Southern Ocean leg from Punta del Este, Uruguay to Fremantle, Australia, on the 89/90 Whitbread as Sailmaker / Medic aboard “With Integrity,” the former “GB II.”

After extensive sailing throughout Europe from the Med to the English Channel, ocean passages included crossing the North Atlantic to Brazil, the South Atlantic to Cape Town in a 29’ Racing boat; from Durban South Africa through the Mozambique channel into the Indian Ocean to the Seychelles and returning to the Mediterranean via the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. Gained valuable maintenance, navigation, sail-repair, system’s upkeep and engineering skills, in addition to sailing and cooking experience, all self-taught while crewing on boats.

This course completed for the first time in 1991 obtaining National Registry, Wilderness EMT, Backcountry Rescue and Winter Emergency Care (WEC), but allowed certifications to lapse while working in the OR. Retook the complete course for the second time in 2003 before leaving the US.
