Background

Summary

Professional freelance writer, content creator and motivational speaker with over 4 years of writing and blogging experience. Specialized in pet blogging, most specifically speaking about the ways you can take care of your dogs through an all-natural lifestyle. Owner of the popular blog Keep the Tail Wagging, and regular writer at Pet360 and Pets Teach Us So Much on TPPC.tv.

As a dog mommy, tech-savvy and wordsmith, I have established wonderful connections with fellow pet lovers all over the world, and I have been able to use my social media and content marketing skills for positive causes. For example, I wrote an e-book on social media tips for animal rescue groups, so these organizations can share their achievements and inspire others in an inexpensive and engaging way. I have spoken at several blogging events all over the US, including Bloggy Boot Camp Vegas 2012, BlogPaws 2013 and 2014, Edmonds Pet Business Group 2013 and WordCamp Seattle 2014.

Keep the Tail Wagging has been featured on Coupon Audit's Top 100 Pet Blogs to Follow in 2013, SheKnows.com's 5 Pet Bloggers You Need to Know About!, nominated for a 2013 and 2014 Petties Blog Aware, and nominated by Toot Sweet for Two for a Liebster Blog Award.

Besides my regular outlets, I have written guest posts for worldwide-renowned websites such as ProBlogger, Girl Power Hour and The SITS girls.

Away from my dogs and my computer, I work as a Senior GL Accountant at Era Living. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Seattle University, and I have been involved in professional corporate accounting for the last 15 years. Nowadays, I manage 4 assisted living communities, as well as the corporate office. Just like in blogging, I enjoy sharing complex information in a simple, enjoyable and understandable way.

Freelance Writer -- Professional Blogger -- Motivational Speaker -- Conference Speaker -- Podcaster

As a dog mom, I've learned a lot about raising dogs and during that education, I've found that it's important to include the lessons provided by other dog owners if you want to raise happy, healthy dogs. I own the blog Keep the Tail Wagging, which has grown into a popular site that shares my experience raising littermates and includes what I'm learning about dog care, health, nutrition and training.

Senior Accountant

Era Living
– Present (10 years 5 months)Greater Seattle Area

Era Living is a fantastic company in a great industry. I'm endlessly amazed at the lengths employees go to (without prompting or expectation of awards) see to the respectful care of our Residents. I'm inspired every day.

I'm a Senior GL Accountant for the corporate office and 4 Communities. Managing their monthly GL close, variance analysis, participating in the budgeting process, managing the year in process, and handing all Intercompany transactions between all Era Living entities.

In my role as a Senior GL Accountant I work with monthly, quarterly and annual financial closes, month by month and budget to actual variance analysis, accrual based general ledger entries, monthly and quarterly B&O taxes, AP and AR review and analysis, budgeting, annual government census processing, and more.

Interruptions is a regular part of my day that I enjoy. It's nice to have a break from trying to solve a problem, even if only for a couple minutes, because it allows us to reset. Being able to juggle multiple tasks, projects and questions is required in this position and something that I enjoy.

Liebster Blog Award

Nominated by Toot Sweet for Two

This is an award given by bloggers to up and coming bloggers, most of whom have less than 200 followers or have been blogging for less than 6 months. It is to show newer bloggers that they are appreciated, and to help spread the word about new blogs. It was created to promote appreciation and recognition among the blog world. Liebster translates to “dearest” (or favorite/best) in German. It is also known as the Love Blog Award.

Note to Kimberly Gauthier: My niece, Tiffany, and I met you at Bloggy Boot Camp LV. We thoroughly enjoyed your talk and learned so much from you. Thanks for your inspiration and positive attitude. We have nominated you for a Liebster Blog Award, even though you have been blogging more than 6 months. Keep up the good work – you’re awesome!”

Speaker at BlogPaws 2014

BlogPaws

"BlogPaws empowers pet parenting bloggers & social media advocates to amplify their voices, expand their influence, and generate economic opportunity, while supporting fellow members efforts to give back to the pets we love so much." ~ BlogPaws

In preparation for BlogPaws 2014, I co-hosted a Spring Cleaning event for bloggers that included weekly challenges to help bloggers "clean up" their blogs so that they presented the best face when networking with brands at the annual conference. At BlogPaws 2014, I co-hosted (remotely) an event wrap up where I answered questions by bloggers who participated in the Spring Cleaning event.

WordCamps come in all different flavors, based on the local communities that produce them, but in general, WordCamps include speakers presenting on topics ranging from basic WordPress tips to serious development tools and strategies." ~ WordCamp Seattle

My session at WordCamp Seattle 2014 was I Started a Blog, Now What? where I shared tips on how to get started or how to get unstuck at blogging and answered questions about blogging, content marketing, monetization, and trolls.
