Kim Fatica’s Summary

I am an energetic and passionate visual storyteller who knows I have yet to reach my full potential both as a photojournalist and as a newsroom manager. While I have spent most of the last 25 years in the field in Cleveland, I have plenty of experience working with the networks on stories of national significance both as a photojournalist and manager.

My news experience is broad, and because of that I have a rare understanding and appreciation of the newsroom workflow.

Among my most recent accomplishments have been overseeing the HD conversion of two news stations in Cleveland over the last four years, building a helicopter ENG program from scratch, and actively participating in the planning and implementation of moving the city of Cleveland in to the new digital 2 GHz band plan for microwave transmissions.

I embrace professional versatility, welcoming new opportunities and refusing to allow myself to be monochromatic in my body of work as a journalist. I have been a contributing writer to News Photographer Magazine since 1984 and have written for numerous other publications. Newer journalistic vehicles such as Twitter and other social mediums are also a part of my experience.

I find great satisfaction mentoring younger journalists and spend time doing this at the college level as Vice President of the Journalism Alumni Board at Bowling Green State University. A lifelong member of the Boy Scouts, I also counsel boys seeking to earn Communications, Journalism, Cinematography, Computers and all three Citizenship merit badges on their way to becoming Eagle Scouts and productive citizens of our country.

My professional goal today is the same as it was 25 years ago: To continue to learn everything I can and apply my abilities for the success of my team and employer.
