Kevin Shaver, CM, SSBB, LE’s Summary
Mr. Shaver is the Practice Leader at Optima Associates Inc. Our business consists of three integrated service streams aimed at improving performance while reducing the overall risk and cost of doing business. Our services include Operations Consulting, Risk Management, and Asset Management. Kevin is also an adjunct faculty member of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College where he teaches the Lean Certificate Series and assists the college in providing business solutions to industry.
As the Director of Lean Continuous Improvement for CMD Corporation, Mr. Shaver met the management team at CMD while operating his own consulting business. He was offered a permanent position to lead continuous improvement for CMD and he accepted the position in April 2007.
As the Director of manufacturing at Marinette Marine Corp, Mr. Shaver applied Lean Continuous methods to a 60-year-old shipyard that had been chosen to build the first new military class combatant ship since the 2nd World War, the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). Mr. Shaver used modular construction and visual factory tools to help keep the parallel design and build projects in sync.
At IBM, Mr. Shaver was an Executive Consultant. He helped the company establish a presence in the aerospace industry as leaders in process and system integration using Lean Continuous Improvement methods and integrating business systems into the flow of product on the factory floor.
As the Director of Operations for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics and the Corporate Director of Production Planning and Control for Holley Performance, Mr. Shaver led internal teams and affiliated organizations through the implementation of an MRP system. The projects were successfully completed on schedule and under budget while the companies continued their on-going operations. Mr Shaver was a key contributor to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics winning the “Ten Best Plants” award from Industry Week magazine.
