Kevin Morrell’s Summary

My core interest is research into work and organisations. Where this is of help and mutual interest I also work with industry. I have done work on organisational development and associated strategic issues; for instance, advising on the connections between HR strategy and organisational learning. I have also carrried out commissioned research or reports for the CIPD, Diageo, DCLG and IDeA and numerous NHS organisations; as well as various anonymised / uncredited work for different higher educational institutions and some fairly high profile academics. Some of my consultancy has been more direct 'delivery' style, either corporate training (i.e. use of SPSS and multivariate analytical techniques) or bespoke materials / tailored lectures specific to HR topics. Recently I represented the Unviersty of Birmingham at the annual conference on HRM for the Confederation of Indian Industry in Delhi where I was invited to speak about communication, ethics and leadership.

    Kevin's research interests include Leadership, Ethics and Governance, but both his academic and consultancy interests are very broad ranging. He has published widely and reviews other work for about two-dozen journals in a wide variety of disciplines including applied psychology, organization theory / management, politics, public administration, sociology and ethics.

    Kevin wrote the tutors’ guidance for the CIPD core text Human Resource Management at Work and has designed distance learning materials. Kevin enjoys working with industry, he has carried out corporate training in use of SPSS and multivariate analytical techniques.
