January 2008 — September 2008 (9 months)
I worked to grow the myVidoop affiliate program and Vidoop community as a whole, by utilizing my background as a community evangelist, in-depth knowledge of the intersection between technology and business, and passion for spreading OpenID and other Open Source / Open Standard technologies.
Through my efforts promoting the OpenID affiliate program, I helped make it easy and profitable for site operators to get their members setup with OpenID accounts that are from a reliable, feature rich provider (myVidoop). If you are interested in making it easy for your members to get an OpenID, getting paid to accept OpenID logins, or just in learning more about OpenID check out myVidoop.com
I worked hard to close the feedback loop between developers and community members using tools like Twitter and Get Satisfaction. With attention to growing the community over time, those tools became excellent outlets for support and marketing communications.

I worked to bring the exciting products that the JanRain team creates successfully to market. I enjoyed getting feedback from the community about JanRain products, including Jyte, Pibb and MyOpenID. If you have any let me know. You can Pibb me on Pibb.com using my OpenID (kfox.myopenid.com).
My Goals at JanRain were simple, grow a communities around our products, and then monetize with a secret blend of advertising, transaction and personalization services...

February 2006 — April 2007 (1 year 3 months)
This position has primarily been about developing a brand community around our 3 products, the TrackIR (PC Gaming Head Tracker), SmartNAV (Hands free mouse), OptiTrack (Motion Capture, Optical Tracking). Once the community is started its time to generate assets (testimonials, videos, reviews) for our sales team to use to close the sale.
Our products have to be seen and used to be believed. Traditional marketing channels such as print ads and glorious commercials are not useful for us. Guerilla marketing is our mantra. Community development has involved finding and attending relevant tradeshows, sponsoring community events, and working to get our products seen and used by our target customers. Once a customer sees our technology it’s usually a very easy sell.

September 2004 — February 2006 (1 year 6 months)
This position is directly challenged with increasing sales of the SmartNAV (www.naturalpoint.com/smartnav) product line. This overall challenge includes a wide array of responsibilities including marketing, sales and support.
The overall marketing strategy has been to increase awareness among our target markets, Ergonomics and Assistive Technology. The SmartNAV demonstrates well in person so having booths at relevant tradeshows, and organizing media events have been very valuable. This position is also responsible for creating promotional content.
Sales efforts include supporting an international dealer network. During my tenure we have redefined our order fulfillment process, revised our dealer contracts and setup a OS survey system.
Taking support calls gives this position a unique perspective on how customers actually feel about the product and how they use it. This in turn means more information to work with when trying to close a sale or create content for a brochure.

This was an intern position where I was responsible for a variety of network engineering tasks at PEAK Internet. My main responsibility was to organize tier two trouble tickets and make sure they were responded to by the correct people in a timely manor.

My CS degree w/ business minor dove tailed nicely into the 1 year MBA program that OSU offers. The 1 year MBA program was tough and I put in quite a bit of effort to learn as much as I could in a short time. Overall it was a great challenge, would do it again!
