Agency founder and executive director of a 35-year-old nonprofit organization that has grown to be one of the nation's most productive and influencial parenting and parenting education institutions.
Also is the author of such books as The Positive Parent: Raising Healthy, Happy and Achieving Children, Birth through Adolescence, Black Parenting: Strategies for Training, The CICC Discovery Tool, Parent Training Today, and The Power of Positive Parenting. In addition, Dr. Alvy has designed and authored several parenting skill-building programs like Confident Parenting, Effective Black Parenting and Los Ninos Bien Educados.
Desires to expand the scope, impact and longevity of the organization in order to help establish effective parenting and parenting education as national priorties. The overarching goal is to create the conditions in the United States that will make it possible for it to become the birthright of every child to be raised effectively and sensitively by loving and skillful parents who receive the best possible parenting education and support.

Dr. Alvy founded this nonprofit training, research and community service organization in 1974 and has been its director eversince. He has helped to make it one of the nation's most productive and influential parenting and parenting education institutions. The Center's parenting programs are now in use in 44 states and the District of Columbia, and millions of parents, from all cultural backgrounds and life circumstances, have been assisted in being more humane and effective in raising their children. Dr. Alvy has orchestrated this growth, as well as having written the organization's main parenting programs.

He taught and created a variety of graduate level courses and achieved the status of Full Professor. He was Faculty President at two different periods of time, and Dean for Academic Affairs early in his career at CSPP-LA.
