I have successfully completed more than three print internships with The Arizona Republic and Arizona Highways Magazine, and have also spent time reporting with the ASU campus newspaper. I also have additional enterprise reporting experience in which I was mentored by former editor of the Sacramento Bee, Rick Rodriguez, through the Southwest Borderlands Initiative—a select experience for ten student journalists to uncover a variety of issues at the U.S. southern border.
Through each of these opportunities, I have become comfortable enough to handle any breaking or hard news assignment, feature, tackle research for in-depth pieces, and pitch story ideas. I am also proficient in taking pictures needed to tell a good story, blogging, social networking, and have experience with InDesign and Photoshop.
I know that I am ready for a chance to develop myself further as a writer, using the skills I have already acquired through previous experiences to succeed and grow.
My writing specialties include news and feature profiles, as well as continuing to learn and practice writing enterprise pieces-- basically, any story that allows me to tell the news though a humanistic angle.
