Senior Sales Engineer in the L4-7 and Security space. Enjoying the responsibilities, requirements and challenge of an SE position, especially the aspect of continuously learning new technologies and applying that to the challenge of technical sales.
Working closely with product management and engineering and influencing product development is a must, and has been a key component in making the job as enjoyable and rewarding as it has been.
Interested in similar or even more demanding positions; open to travel, even internationally as I have done it in the past and enjoyed that too.
Extensive experience working with and supporting ecommerce and service provider customers
(Public Company; 1001-5000 employees; Computer Networking industry)
December 2000 — Present (7 years 8 months)
Typical SE position in the computer networking industry, specifically L4-7 then branching into security with SSLVPN and Web Application Firewall additions to the product line.
Joining when the company was a small startup in 2000 required a full breadth of responsibilities, everything from pre-sales to full post-sales support. Tight coordination with Engineering (before there was Prod Mgmt) and then PM was also required. Extensive travel across the US and even internationally (Asia and even Europe) was also part of the job, helping establish the teams for those areas.
Currently the position is focused on a more tradtional pre-sales engineering role covering SoCal, yet requiring high levels of technical knowledge of a very complex and multi-featured product. Increased responsibilities with PM are being added, to help drive product growth and development, as well as work and field testing of NetScaler product integration with Citrix core products.

From splicing fiber cables and making your own ethernet cables, to installing microwave links, to switch and router management, the breadth of experience was unmatched.
