My raison d'être in my professional career is to live and breathe technology. The convergence of online, mobile, gaming, traditional broadcast media and emerging new technologies has created a connected world where even the remotest reaches of our planet can in some way or another be connected to the global web. In developed countries this convergence is creating whole new economies whilst in the developing world, convergence is changing the lives of people living in the rural landscape. The penetration of mobile phones in developing countries is starting to outstrip traditional land line phone connections. Similarly, technology leaps within developed economies is heralding the birth of totally new modes of work where notion of the global economy is being totally reshaped - often side stepping traditional barriers and empowering the individual and the innovation of enterprise to grow beyond the restrictions of their own physical borders.

    I'm currently the Head of Development at Publicis (UK). I developed an extensive XML based feed system allowing .tv to display product and price information from a range of retailers on the .tv web site.

During my time at the BBC I also redeveloped the BBC's Technology Intranet from scratch, developed all graphics and layout and hand coded the construction of the web site using coding technology such as HTML, SQL and SQL Server 2007.

    Practical experience using research grade telescope facilities at the University of London Observatory in Mill Hill. Using a 8inch 19th century refractor, a state of the art 14 inch Celestron Schmidt Cassegrain telescope and a 1 meter reflector to measure spectra. Additional experience gained in CCD astro photography using flat and dark fields as well as narrow band filters.
