I was recently described by a blogger as, “that well worn advocate of online PR”. And I guess it’s true, although it makes me feel rather old! I can't help myself, I'm passionate about communications, and in particular the fast changing way in which audiences are discovering and sharing information. Whether it is offline or online.

Yes, large portion of these interactions are online, but to me this is just an amplification of the changing way we, as consumers, want to engage with each other, brands and the world around us. So the internet just reflects society’s changing attitudes: highlighting our trust in peers and friends on social networks just like this one.

I work with a team at immediate future that understands how to communicate authentically, trigger conversations, develop social currency and cultivate advocacy. We work with great brands and fast moving digital companies to meet business objectives by securing media coverage (off and online), maximising search visibility and building positive brand reputation with conversation and influencer relations.

Networking is the cornerstone of this PR approach. And sharing information, ideas and theories is what drives me. I regularly attend social events, training and seminars. In particular, I try to get to all the superb events run by E-consultancy, chinwag, NMK and Netimperative. Networking online tends to be with email list forums such as UKpress, UKNetmarketing and SocialMediaClub - although I am a bit more of a lurker, than an active participant!

The rest of my time, I spend with my family. Mainly as a taxi service for my kids and as the poor soul that carries the maggots on fishing trips (mmm I need a hobby!). Maybe being a well-worn advocate of online PR isn’t too bad after all!
