Digital marketing & engaging with online communities
(Publishing industry)
May 2007 — Present (2 years 8 months)
I am currently responsible for ensuring that our major marketing campaigns feature a digital element whenever possible. This includes online advertising, social media marketing, digital asset creation and mobile marketing.
One of my goals is to ensure that all of our key authors have an online presence, which can mean project managing freelance designers and design agencies or building websites myself.
I do a lot of social PR, speaking to bloggers about our books, writing for and managing our own blog, and maintaining our Flickr, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter accounts.
In addition to the work I do in digital, I work on traditional marketing campaigns, creating visuals for advertising, in-store posters and display units, writing sales copy, dealing with customers and producing added value promotions for them.
I was recently made the brand manager for all Doctor Who, Strictly Come Dancing and Gina Ford books. This means planning all marketing activity and reporting back to the company on how effective our sales, marketing and PR activity have been.

From 2005 to 2007, I ran a networking group for women with Matilda Andersson. We arranged quarterly meetings with speakers, quarterly social events, and occassional fund raisers.
As well as organising and coordinating these events, I was also fully responsible for maintaining all content on the website (www.welike.org.uk) and e-mail correspondence with members.
