After 29 years as a software engineer, my interests shifted from computers to what makes people flourish in life. In 2006, I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Applied Positive Psychology degree. I opened a personal development coaching practice to put to good use the wonderful things I learned in the program. Positive psychology is an empirical discipline based on the concept that the “good” in life is much more than absence of the “bad.”
People hire coaches when they want to accelerate progress toward major goals, make positive changes in their lives, or feel happier with their lives just as they are.
To these ends, I listen intently, ask questions that broaden perspective, suggest actions that can lead to greater flourishing, and help people hold themselves accountable for their feelings and actions. Explaining opportunities and challenges out loud to an unbiased listener helps people think more clearly, and often my clients hear the best solutions coming out of their own mouths
I have experience in IT that makes it easy for me to understand the challenges and opportunities in that field. I have also personally dealt with a chronic illness for 28 years, which gives me an interest in how to live well with physical limitations.
