Kate McKinney’s Summary

For ten years, I practiced law - criminal and civil litigation with a healthy dose of family law mixed in. I enjoyed the research, the writing, the problem-solving. I didn't enjoy the stress and the constant conflict.

So, fast forward a few years. I ventured out into internet media as a freelance writer and editor, as a blogger and as a site operator. As those businesses evolved and grew, I became more active and knowledgeable in the social media realm, especially with regard to the marketing of small- to medium-sized local businesses.

As a co-founder and consultant for the newly launched K2Media, I work with small- to medium-sized local businesses to educate them about the marketing and brand identification possibilities open to them in various social media outlets. We work with owners and employees to teach them how to best use the social media tools available. The goal is to capture the attention of their customer base and engage customers and potential customers in personal interaction. And to, hopefully, retain and convert those relationships to the company's benefit.

At K2Media, we also partner with local web designers and developers as well as search engine marketers where appropriate to provide a comprehensive online marketing strategy for every client.

I currently write for several legal-related blogs as well as for my own sites, KC Kids Fun and Sassy and George. I freelance web content - from About Us pages to in-depth articles and entire site overhauls.

In addition to writing for KC Kids Fun and Sassy and George, I also am responsible for marketing those sites via traditional and social media outlets. I track site metrics, manage subscriptions and sell advertising. I engage regularly with readers, PR reps and business owners to effectively raise our profile in the online community.
