Educated as an engineer-MBA, Saurabh Kanwar missed the tech boom because he thought media was the future. Even a stint at Wipro Infotech failed to open his eyes.
So as the world figured out stock options, Kanwar figured out ways to convince his family that money wasn't everything, and marketing at MTV was spiritually enriching.
As the need to pay his EMIs became more urgent, he sought greener pastures, with Walt Disney Television, and then as head of marketing at Radio City. Soon, Channel [v] offered to pay him a salary to hang out with cool VJs and get free CDs.
Eventually, the charms of corporatedom have worn thin, and working with like-minded people takes precedence over the mortgage. Saurabh has found friends who will let him convert all the time spent playing Farmville at work into a professional calling. He now hopes to get paid to tweet and poke. Woohoo.
Saurabh is thankfully married to a doctor, whose profession is recession-proof. They have 2 children, whom Saurabh is already training to use twitter.
