The UGL program was first developed for the Swedish National Defense Academy in 1981. The program is structured around Will Schutz’s FIRO-theory (Fundamental Interpersonal Relationship Orientation). The systematical approach of this theory gives the participants the opportunity to experience, and follow, the leadership.
This FUGL program differs significantly from “traditional” leadership development programs. The pedagogical approach of the UGL program is based on “Experiential Learning”, which means that new learning is acquired through the following four steps; experiencing, reflecting, generalizing and testing new behavior.
