This was my team's final project for the class Rapid Design for Slow Change in Indiana University's HCI/d program.
The goal was to create something that leveraged design for slow change to affect a user over time. With Sustain-ABILITY, we hoped to encourage users to consider environmental factors more heavily when purchasing products - specifically, groceries.
Sustain-ABILITY is a smartphone app design that uses augmented reality to help users overcome decision paralysis at the grocery store. Sustain-ABILITY suggests products to a user based on how that product measures up to the user's personal sustainability priorities and concerns (which are pre-set within the application).
For instance, if someone specifies that food produced within 30 miles of her current location is more desirable Sustain-ABILITY will highlight those products for her as she views the grocery shelves through her phone's camera.
While the significance of teamwork is becoming increasing important in many settings, many teams in schools have problems working together. The "Your and My Little Sprout" design aims to address factors affecting the success of team collaborations, such as lack of participation and unbalanced distribution of workload. We hope our design can help raise awareness of team objectives amongst team members.
