Hello ~

My name is Jay, & I like to build things.

I am a designer+art director+illustrator based out of the Washington DC area with over 10 years post college design experience - covering everything from web design & user experience, branding, rich-media advertising, illustration, print work, & photography. While at AOL, I've worked on large portal redesigns including Autos, Shopping, Real Estate, Travel, & Teens sites among many others. A large part of my role was conceptualizing new "blue sky" designs geared towards the best user experience & maximizing business goals by creating unique cross-channel promotions / take advantage of new social & viral opportunities / utilize partner & advertorial content, & create working prototypes in flash. Before, I worked at the online version of the WashingtonPost as a flash designer focusing on creating rich-media online ad campaigns for their advertisers, & micro sites that focused on getting the user the relevant information they need to make their purchasing decision easier & faster.

Good design is not just a base visual appreciation, but a "Smart" design that encompasses user needs as well as client goals to deliver the best solutions. I still feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to do something for a living that I am truly passionate about. I am always excited when starting new projects at the challenges it will bring and how it will evolve.
